  1. Me 262 BOMBER INTERCEPTION TRAINING

  3. The Me 262A-1a was the main fighter
  4. version produced during the war, and
  5. was dubbed the Schwalbe, or "Swallow".  
  6. It was heavily armed, with four cannons
  7. in the nose, and later, as the Me 262A-1B,
  8. with twenty-four R4M air-to-air rockets
  9. mounted under the wings.  Although some
  10. 1,430 Me 262s were produced, only about
  11. 300 were ever used against the Allies.

  13.                     YOUR MISSION
  14.  
  15. You and two wingmen must take off to
  16. intercept a box of four B-17s with P-51D
  17. escorts.  Climb as quickly as you can, 
  18. but watch the fighters.  They'll take 
  19. advantage of your vulnerably low speed 
  20. as you climb, so you may need to 
  21. approach the bombers with a somewhat 
  22. wide flight path.
